One of Jomtien’s quiet success stories, this gay-friendly eaterie is run by 80 year-old John Rumbelow – formerly a chef to admirals and other dignitaries in the British Royal Navy – and his Thai wife. They focus on traditional British and classic European cuisine, and pride themselves on their fresh meat dishes, home made pates and soups, and choice of fifteen desserts. You get a complete three-course meal for 355 Baht, and their most popular repast is Roast Leg of Lamb. Reservations are advised, and the Ritz is open 6:00 to 10:00 PM, seven days a week.

The menu is varied and includes Thai dishes, but the pieces de resistance are charcoal-grilled Australian and Canadian steaks. With fine wines and fancy cocktails also available, the cost of a meal can vary from moderate to high. Breakfast and lunch are also served. Manhattans is open Mondays to Saturdays, until 10:30 PM.
