It must be the silly season or something, because hot on the heals of the report of scientists growing penises in the lab comes a report of other scientists turning fruit flies gay - seems like under the right conditions the files not only like fruit but also fruits!
While busy doing other things one day (what exactly is not revealed) some American researchers noticed that the genetically modified fruit flies they were working with switched from being heterosexual to homosexual the hotter they got. And when the temperature dropped, they reverted to heterosexual orientation.
Other researchers helpfully pointed out that fruit flies and people are very different, so this result may not mean much in the real world, but it does perhaps explain the increasingly amorous goings on at the saunas!
