scene & heard
scene & heard - december
Sunday, December 12, 2004

'Tis the season to be jolly, and if you are not already all party'd out by Bangkok and Pattaya pride celebrations then relax and get ready for Christmas and New Year madness, then it is on the Phuket in February for their pride weekend - as they say in Phuket, it never stops!

Bangkok Pride 2004 was a great week, with visitor numbers and parade participants up on last year and a whole week of great events. Pattaya Gay Festival managed some great fundraising in their last few events for the year and a great time was had by all at the beach party and Boyztown parties. Pictures from both places are in the galleries here, on the official BPC and PGF web sites and of course at boxertravels.com.

Phuket was forced to do a last minute change to their festival dates in 2005 because of the nation election that has now been scheduled for 6 February. The new dates are 10 -13 February 2005, so get those bookings changed now and get down there. Full details are in the calendar here and on the official Phuket Gay Pride 2005 website. Phuket venue owners have been pressing hard for later venue opening hours, but so far the response from the national authorities has been no, but the pressure continues!

Being a typical cynic my reaction to all the Christmas decorations and carols playing in the shopping malls has been Bah! Humbug! but if you are looking for some traditional Christmas fare for the festive season, Telephone in Bangkok has their usual Christmas buffet on Dec 25, Balcony has a buffet on 22 Dec, or for something completely different try "Christmas in Isaan" at Balcony on the 26th! In Pattaya, Amor has its usually Christmas dinner, and Le Cafe Royale also has lots planned for the festive season.

If you need something not Christmassy - Elvis comes to Soi 4 for Balcony's Cabaret Night 14 December, or check out "Mr Big" at Slyperx on the 25th, and the Phuket Gay Festival has a pajama party in Paradise on the 29th - for all the latest venue changes and events as they happen see the calendar here and the directory listings.

Hope you all have a great holiday season!
