gay festivals gearing up

Festival committees in Bangkok, Pattaya and Phuket are gearing up already for the next celebrations.
In Bangkok, the Bangkok Pride Coalition had a meeting last month to elect their new committee for the year, headed by the new co-chairs Khun Nikon and Paul Causey. Bangkok Pride 2003 will be held in November, with Pride in the Park on Sunday November 9 and the parade on Sunday November 16.
In Pattaya, the first major event of the Pattaya Gay Festival 2003 will be a dinner at Bruno's Restaurant on March 30. Festival events will be scheduled regularly throughout the year, details will be posted on their web site, and again the final parade and party will be held in conjunction with World AIDS Day on December 1.
Down Phuket way, the new committee is being set up this month, and apparently plans are afoot to take over the world, or at least to make Phuket the gay capital of Thailand if not South-East Asia, with support from the local office of the Tourism Authority of Thailand according to recent press reports! Dates for the first event for the 2004 Phuket Gay Pride Festival should be announced soon.
So it is looking like a very gay year in Thailand!
