Bangkok Pride 2002 is finally upon us - the official launch was held last night with Bangkok Pride Coalition members and guests lighting candles and incense and presenting offerings at the Rama 6 statue at the entrance to Lumphini Park.
The quite but respectful ceremony could be the last quiet moment of the busy week ahead, with sports and other special events all week culminating with Pink in the Park on Saturday and the street fair and parade on Sunday.
The parade on Sunday is being held in conjunction with the official TOT and Silom Walking promotions including the Loy Krathong festival, indicating the level of official support now being offered to gay events.
For details of all the festival events see the calendar here and the Bangkok Pride website. And if you are around town don't forget to buy some tickets in the Lucky Draw to help raise money for BPC charities!
Meanwhile Pattaya Gay Festival has been have a great time as well - and there are still a few more events before the final parade and parties in Pattaya in December!
For more info on festival fundraising and events see the calendar here and the Pattaya Gay Festival website.
Keep those cards and letters coming in.
