Well, Songkran was its usual wet and wild self that left me avoiding all my favourite places for a few days because they were located in what became war zones!
Patpong and Thaniya had enough sense to get back to normal after just a day of wildness while Silom Soi 4 and Soi 2 where wet for what seemed like forever - and lets not even talk about Pattaya and its extended Songkran! Still, some people seem to like it!
On a drier - and much more fun - note, 'tis certainly the season for building community with the official start of Bangkok Pride 2002 and lots more activities from the Pattaya Gay Festival as well.
Sphinx celebrated their 9th Birthday on 30 April with a party and fundraiser for Bangkok Pride Coalition. The evening featured dinner followed by a show by the ICON dancers and a presentation to Human Development Foundation, a local charity, from the proceeds from Bangkok Pride 2001. May 4 saw the official opening of Bangkok Pride 2002 with the Pink Party in Silom Soi 4. More than 33,000 Bht was raised. More pictures in the gallery here and more details and pictures on the BPC web site.
And the Bangkok Gay Festival has just announced that the BGF parade and party this year will be on 30 November - look for more details on their web site soon.
